Dr. Wes Heroman was born in Baton Rouge, LA and grew up in Atlanta, GA. He graduated with Honors from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. He returned to Atlanta, where he received his Medical Doctorate from Emory University School of Medicine in 2004. While at Emory he was the recipient of a prestigious Joseph B. Whitehead Surgical Scholarship. He completed a general surgery internship at Grady Hospital through Morehouse School of Medicine in 2005. His general Ophthalmology training was through the University of Louisville, which he completed in 2008. He remained at the University of Louisville to complete his Vitreo-Retinal Surgery and Uveitis fellowship training. Dr. Heroman has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed medical journals on a wide range of Retina-related disease, including macular degeneration and retinal surgery techniques. His work has also been presented at prestigious conferences such as the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Heroman and his wife Krista live in Charlotte with their two sons, Ben and Sam. He enjoys exercising, spending time with his family, and watching college football.
